Mouse House Farm was founded in 2000 by Tony and Lyn Hutchison as a small family run boarding facility for the horse enthusiast. It is ideally located on fertile pastures by the Octoraro creek in Lancaster County near the MD border. The farm was sold to Mark and Bonnie LaMonte in 2003 and then used as a breeding facility following the purchase of the foundation sire, Costner. The operation and direction of the farm is under Bonnie LaMonte. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Bonnie brings her extensive experience of over 25 years in horse management, sport, competition and veterinary care to the operation of Mouse House Farm.
Mouse House Farm offers a variety of services suited to today’s conscientious horse owner. Horse boarding, evaluation of horse management and care can be customized to each horse’s individual needs or special care. The horse that is older, difficult to maintain, or is recovering from illness, surgery or injury is easily accommodated at Mouse House Farm.
Breeding services are offered with on-site veterinary care for the breeding or foaling of broodmares. Mouse House Farm is proud to offer the stallions Costner and Lyracist for breeding. Each stallion has been selected based on his bloodlines, past performance, athleticism, temperament and soundness. Custom breeding can also be arranged using our broodmares and a stallion of the buyer’s choice. Embryo transfer is also to be offered at Mouse House Farm by the spring of 2007.
Sport horses are also offered for sale from the best-proven bloodlines of Europe and America. Horses are carefully selected, evaluated and offered to buyers as prospects in disciplines that suit their talents. Young prospects can be bought from the stock of Mouse House Farm that has been bred for a variety of disciplines. The sale and importation of horses from contacts in Europe can also be arranged.
The acquisition of several thoroughbred broodmares and the stallion Lyracist, has launched Mouse House Farm into its newest venture of Thoroughbred breeding. With the funds available for Pennsylvania bred racehorse incentives projected to triple in the next year, the breeding of thoroughbreds has become very profitable. Mouse House Farm is ideally located within a few hours of a number of tracks, including Delaware Park, Philadelphia Park, Penn National, Laurel and Pimlico. Since the farm is close to the MD and DE borders, breeders in other states can take advantage of the Pennsylvania Breeders Incentives by foaling and boarding their broodmares at Mouse House Farm. The first thoroughbred foal crop is expected in 2007 and will include the valuable bloodlines of Sultry Song, Storm Cat, Deputed Testimony and Danzig.
Mouse House Farm is committed to the highest quality of breeding, care and the raising of horses for sale and sport. Although Mouse House Farm is expanding and progressing to meet the needs of the modern horse industry, it is still founded on the principles of classical horsemanship and animal husbandry with the individual attention of a family run business.
