Costner
16.2 hand bay Holsteiner stallion
Registries; AWR
136392 92
Stem; 569
Breeder: Mary Ann Ost, MD
Costner possesses an exceptional pedigree combining some of the most famous Holsteiner lines. Costner is a descendent of Cottage Son xx through his grandsire Corporal, and is one of the few stallions in the United States from this line. Corporal is best known for producing show jumpers and event horses, but his offspring have been successful in the dressage ring as well. Other important stallions in Costner's pedigree include Ramiro, Ladykiller xx, Farnese and Marlon xx. Costner's damline is from stem 569, most well known for producing event horses. This concentration of exceptional Holsteiner blood with Thoroughbred improvement sires makes Costner a valuable addition to American breeding programs.
Costner was evented successfully as a youngster but has now moved on to a promising career in the upper levels of dressage, which demonstrates his ridability and willing temperament. Costner has three solid gaits with great range and a ‘jump’ to his canter. Costner was described at his stallion inspection as a 'lovely sporthorse type' and has been shown to be an excellent cross with American thoroughbreds. His first two foal crops have been first premium, and his foals consistently improve on their dams inspection scores.
